The road to Dholavira, one of the most important cities of the Indus Valley Civilisation, runs across the vast Great Rann of Kutch: salt marsh and semi-arid desert on both sides.

Drive back along the Road to Heaven to Kalo Dungar, the highest point in Kutch, then on to the Tent City at Dhordo for the White Rann sunset and an evening of Kutchi culture.

Kalo Dungar
Legend says Lord Dattatreya stopped here and found a group of starving jackals. He offered them his body, and as they ate it kept regenerating. For four centuries the temple priests have cooked rice for the jackals that come in the late evening.
